Ruth's Story
Training as an Art Therapist was something I had thought about for many years.
Art has always been one of my passions and a career in Art Therapy would allow me to further develop my understanding of the creative process alongside working very closely with people, enabling others to give visual form to difficult feelings and personal issues. The Masters of Science course in Art Therapy runs full-time over two years, the course fees are high. My research revealed the significant lack of funding opportunities for students wishing to undertake postgraduate or masters qualifications, this was disheartening. The Ruby and Will George Trust provided me with a grant which enabled me to complete Art Therapy training, for this I am extremely grateful.
I am now a fully qualified and Health Professions Council registered Art Therapist, I work in the north of Edinburgh with adults suffering from mental health difficulties.
